In 1977 Doyle and Harriet Hughes had a vision to start a excavating company. Which we call E.D. Hughes Excavating today. Their vision was to have a company that represented the Lord in all that they do and have the company reflect this attitude.
When they started the company Doyle had been running big equipment for highways and dams. Harriet was a school teacher for a local Christian school. They took Harriet's retirement from teaching to put a down payment on a dumptruck. Then they leased a front end loader. The first job they did was the parking lot on 9th Street in Corvallis where North's Chuck Wagon was.
Goal was to do as much quality work as they can leaving happy customers. They strived to provide jobs for as many good workers as possible.
34 years later Doyle and Harriet have semi retired. They have built a successful business that is still going strong. When they retired they turned the business over to Jim and Paul to run and maintain, with the same vison and goals as they have. Check out the equipment that came from a dumptruck and leased front end loader.
